The Anglican Cathedral of Christchurch is in the center of
Christchurch because the city was established as an Anglican settlement and its leaders wished to have a Cathedral at its heart. The foundation stone was laid in 1864 and the Cathedral opened in 1881, after 23 years of planning and building.

This magnificent abbey stands atop a rocky islet in the gulf of Saint-Malo, on the northwestern coast of France. The abbey started as a small chapel dedicated to the Archangel Michael, in the early 8th century, and took around 900 years to evolve into its present state. In 1979, it was designated a World Cultural Heritage Site. As the result of continuous reconstructions in Romanesque and Gothic styles, the whole islet has the appearance of a single, huge edifice. The abbey spire sits atop the islet's peak, reaching a height of approximately 150 meters above the sea.

The Florence Cathedral is a world heritage listed gothic-style basilica, and is a famous landmark of the historical district of Italy's Florence. Construction of the basilica began in 1296, and took more than 140 years to complete. The Florence Cathedral is composed of three buildings: the "Duomo," which is famous for its huge dome roof and is the fourth-biggest cathedral in the world; the "Baptistery of San Giovanni," an octagonal building famous for the "Gates of Paradise;" and "Giotto's Bell Tower," which stands to the side of the Duomo. The white, green, and red marble exterior of the Cathedral is decorated with beautiful sculptures and mosaic works from many different artists.

a Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain, is renowned for its unique design by Antoni Gaudí. Having overseen the design work since 1883, Gaudí died in 1926, but the structure is still under construction under the hands of many architects and craftsmen. Ultimately, the completed cathedral will have a total of 18 towers : 4 bell towers representing the 12 Apostles (four bell towers on each of the three façades-Nativity, Passion, and Glory); the Tower of Jesus Christ (the tallest tower); the Tower of the Virgin Mary (the second tallest); and four other towers, dedicated to the four Evangelists, standing at the four corners of the Tower of Jesus Christ. La Sagrada Familia was designated a World Cultural Heritage Site in 2005. This 3D model paper craft shows how the La Sagrada Familia will look when completed.
